How to Get the Most Out of Your Web Development Team

More than once, someone has told me that conversing with me is like talking to Sheldon Cooper.

Direct, literal, black / white, does not read between the lines.

I’m not sure if I’m like that because I work in the world of web developers (or if I was like that before and found my people in web development), but I definitely know that working with tech people is different than working with creatives.

Some tips for getting the most out of your web development team if you’re struggling to find your groove.

  1. Be SPECIFIC. Web developers take your instructions literally; we are here to do exactly what you want. Vague does not work well. Tell us what you want, where, how, and when, and we’ll knock it out of the park.
  2. Be ORGANIZED. Confusion about deliverables creates chaos. Before bringing in your implementation (web) people, make sure you have everything together and that it makes perfect sense.
  3. TEST your login information. What is the slowest part of a web project? Getting the correct login information for hosting, website, DNS, APIs, etc. Test it first and then send it to us.
  4. Be FAST to respond. Web developers work like a train. They focus, they move, and when they’re in the flow, they want to stay there. Be available to answer questions / clarify confusion so we can keep the train moving.

Have you worked successfully with web developers before? What would you add?

If your agency needs a dev team that communicates clearly and works as an extension of your team, we’d love to connect.
